Acne Care FAQ
Personalized answers about acne causes, consultations, facials, and long-term skin health.
What causes acne?
Acne is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that develops when excess oil, dead skin cells, bacteria, and inflammation clog the pores. Hormones, genetics, stress, certain medications, cosmetics, and lifestyle factors can also contribute to breakouts.
Because everyone’s skin is different, there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. That’s why every acne care plan is personalized to address your unique skin concerns and triggers.
Why is a personalized acne care plan important?
No two cases of acne are exactly alike. Some clients experience hormonal breakouts, while others struggle with congestion, inflammatory acne, blackheads, or post-acne discoloration.
During your consultation, we’ll evaluate your skin, lifestyle, current routine, and goals to create a customized care plan designed to support healthier, clearer skin over time.
Do you treat hormonal acne?
Yes. Hormonal acne is one of the most common concerns we see.
While we don’t treat underlying medical or hormonal conditions, we can help manage the skin-related effects of hormonal fluctuations through customized facials, in-studio services, barrier-supportive skincare, and personalized homecare recommendations.
What types of acne do you treat?
We work with clients experiencing many forms of acne, including teen acne, adult acne, hormonal acne, blackheads and clogged pores, whiteheads, inflammatory acne, congested skin, sensitive acne-prone skin, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (dark marks after breakouts).
Every service is customized based on your skin’s current condition.
How long does it take to see results?
Clear skin doesn’t happen overnight, but consistency makes a significant difference.
Many clients begin noticing improvements within several weeks, while more persistent acne may take a few months to show substantial progress. Your timeline depends on factors such as the type and severity of acne, your skincare routine, lifestyle, and how consistently you follow your personalized care plan.
What happens during my acne consultation?
Your consultation is the foundation of your care plan. We’ll discuss your skin concerns and goals, acne history, current skincare products, lifestyle factors, previous services, skin sensitivity, service recommendations, and a homecare routine.
From there, we’ll create a customized plan that evolves as your skin improves.
What happens during an acne facial?
Every acne facial is customized to your skin and may include deep cleansing, gentle exfoliation, professional extractions (when appropriate), calming and anti-inflammatory care, hydrating barrier-supportive products, targeted corrective serums, LED light therapy (when appropriate), and SPF application.
Our goal is to improve congestion while protecting your skin barrier and reducing unnecessary irritation.
Are extractions included?
Yes, when they’re appropriate for your skin. Extractions are performed carefully and only when they can be done safely without causing unnecessary trauma or inflammation.
Not every visit requires extractions, and we’ll determine what’s best for your skin during each visit.
Will I need professional skincare products?
In-studio services provide excellent results, but what you do at home every day has the greatest impact on your skin.
We’ll recommend products that support your personalized care plan without overwhelming your skin. Homecare recommendations are tailored to your needs and designed to complement your in-studio services.
Do you treat acne scars and dark spots?
Yes. Once active acne is under better control, we can incorporate services that help improve the appearance of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone, mild acne scarring, and rough skin texture.
Your care plan may include chemical peels, customized facials, LED light therapy, and targeted skincare recommendations based on your skin’s needs.
Can sensitive skin still be treated for acne?
Absolutely. Many people with acne also have sensitive or reactive skin. Our services are customized to reduce breakouts while protecting and strengthening your skin barrier.
Healthy skin doesn’t have to come at the expense of comfort.
Is acne care safe during pregnancy?
Some acne services and skincare ingredients are not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
If you’re pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, we’ll customize your service using pregnancy-appropriate products and techniques. Please let us know before your appointment so we can ensure your care plan is safe and effective.
Can teenagers receive acne services?
Yes. We offer age-appropriate services for teens experiencing acne and congestion.
Our goal is to improve skin health while teaching healthy skincare habits that support long-term confidence and success.
Do you offer virtual acne consultations?
Yes. Virtual consultations are a great option if you’re unable to visit the studio or need guidance on your skincare routine. During your consultation, we’ll review your skin concerns, discuss your current products, and create a customized service and homecare plan to help you achieve healthier skin.
